Schizophrenia is a mental illness characterized by abnormal interpretations of reality. Psychosis is a condition that affects the brain's perception of reality.

While schizophrenia can cause psychosis, it can also be caused by other health conditions such as bipolar I or depression, as well as medications or drug use. Psychosis may also occur in schizoaffective disorder, schizophreniform disorder, brief psychotic disorder, delusional disorder, substance-induced psychotic disorder, and more.

The primary symptoms of psychosis include delusions (false beliefs) and hallucinations (seeing or hearing things that others do not perceive). Other symptoms may include speech difficulties, inappropriate behavior, impairment in daily functioning, lack of motivation, depression, and anxiety.

This assessment is designed to evaluate early symptoms of psychosis, whether it is within the initial phase of schizophrenia or as a result of other factors. It consists of a scientifically-supported 12-question test.
